The Club of Rome - and 'global warming'

The Club of Rome describe themselves as "a global think tank and centre of innovation and initiative".

They run conferences and write reports on a range of matters addressing the world's 'problems'. Back in 1972 the Club of Rome wrote a report titled 'Limits to Growth' which focused on overpopulation and sustainability.

The following is an obituary for Alexander King, one of the founders of the Club of Rome, who died in February 2007.

The Obituary was published in The Age, but the item did not have an author's name. It was simply listed as from the 'GUARDIAN'. The original, in the Guardian, names Australia's Keith Suter as the author of the obituary.

Keith Suter is the Australian representative for the Club of Rome. He is also the Social Policy Consultant for Wesley Mission in Sydney.
In 1999 Keith Suter wrote an assessment of the original Report 'Limits to Growth' called

In his 1991 book The First Global Revolution (co-authored with Bertrand Schneider) they wrote:
"In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill..."
