29 April 2003 - VCAT case

The VCAT hearing of the case brought by the Islamic Council against Pastor Danny Nalliah and Pastor Daniel Scot, under Victoria’s Racial and Religious Tolerance Act, is moving to its next stage.

The Islamic Council lodged a formal complaint some weeks ago - the two pastors and Catch The Fire Ministries lodged their response (called "Particulars of Defence").

A ‘mediation’ session is to be held on Thursday 1st May. This is where a mediator tries to mediate a settlement between the two pastors and the complainants. If an agreement is not reached at the mediation session, the next stage is a hearing at the tribunal before a Commissioner (probably in June).

Please pray that these two pastors will know God’s courage, wisdom and grace as they attend this session along with their advisors and legal representatives.

27 April - Homosexual Rights legislation
The South Australian and the Tasmanian governments are both considering laws to give more rights to homosexual couples. These laws are considering adoption for same-sex couples.

1 April 2003 - Homosexual Rights legislation
The ACT Legislative Assembly has passed a Bill giving rights to same-sex couples. There is also a second round of proposed changes being considered - including adoption and vilification laws. The Tasmanian parliament is considering adoption rights for homosexual couples.

1 April 2003 - War in Iraq
The war in Iraq fills the TV and the newspapers. Please pray for a swift end to the war and that there will be minimum civilian casualities.
With suicide bombings by Iraqi soldiers and soldiers dressed as civilians, this will be a difficult time ahead. Please pray for Prime Minister John Howard, Opposition Leader Simon Crean and all the other MPs. Please pray for US President George Bush and Tony Blair.

Please pray for our national leaders as we confront the possibility of war in Iraq - Prime Minister John Howard, Opposition Leader Simon Crean and all the other MPs. Please pray for US President Bush and UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.
