Homosexuality and same-sex 'marriage'

Around the world homosexual activists continue to pursue their cause.

Politicians are responding... We recently reported about Barack Obama's support for homosexual rights and the reception he held at the White House (front page, 8 July).

In London, in early June, Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his wife Sarah hosted a reception for organisers of London Pride at Number 10 Downing Street just before the Pride March. Sarah Brown then participated in the Pride March to show her support for homosexual rights! [source] Mrs Brown posed with activists in the march and Gordon Brown spoke to the media about their actions [Sky News, 4 July 2009].

Homosexual activists are celebrating the fact that the Delhi High Court in India has ruled that homosexual sex should be legalised. [BBC, 2 July 2009] The decision was made at the start of July. The court cited the Indian Constitution's references to 'equality' and 'discrimination'.

Australia - same sex 'marriage'

Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young put up a bill to amend the Australian Marriage Act to legalise same-sex 'marriage' in late June. The Senate sent the Bill to the Senate Standing Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs for an Inquiry.

The date for submissions is not posted on the website yet - but we've been told it is 31 July. However, we've been told it is possible the Committee may extend the due date - they'll decide after parliament returns in August!
