Marriage under attackHomosexual activists are increasing their efforts to get the Australian marriage law changed to allow homosexuals to marry a person of the same sex. A 'National Day of Action' is being held around the country this weekend to call on the government to change the law. The event is timed to coincide with the national conference of the Australian Labor Party. Read more about the 'National Day of Action' and the action being timed for the ALP conference in this report from a homosexual newspaper. Read more about the ALP National Conference.
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has said, in an article in The Australian, that he will resist any attempt to legalise same-sex 'marriage' or civil unions. The question is - will the actual party vote according to Mr Rudd's wishes? And will the parliamentary party follow his stated views? Mr Rudd apparently resisted the push to allow the use of overseas aid funds for abortions - but was defeated by the 'numbers'. How long will Mr Rudd retain control on this issue - he is not the Labor Party! Greens BillMeanwhile Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young has put a private Senator's Bill into the Senate to change the Marriage Act to allow same-sex 'marriage'. The Senate sent it to the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee for an Inquiry - click here for our Campaign page which has full details. Please send a submission to oppose this move. |
