Human Rights (NOT) in the UK

In Australia we are increasingly seeing governments enact more strident legislation that is restricting our religious freedom. Victoria's religious vilification legislation and the recent Equal Opportunity Act that requires religious schools to PROVE that it is an "INHERENT REQUIREMENT" of the position to be a Christian or not to be a homosexual and so on.

Then the federal government is promising to 'review' federal anti-discrimination laws and to 'harmonise' state anti-discrimination laws - that will mean adopting the worst of these laws across all states.

In the UK Christians are regularly being brought before tribunals and courts and hauled up by police to answer accusations of 'discriminaton'.

Melanie Phillips has written a brilliant article highlighting some recent cases - including a counsellor who was sacked because he refused to counsel a same-sex couple and a man locked up in a police cell for preaching on the street about homosexuality.

Under our anti-discrimination laws, such distress is not to be permitted. . ."
