More sexualisation of children
Asking pre-school children about sex?
You might say that is totally inappropriate - and you would be right!
But that's what Monash University researcher Dr Mindy Blaise has done in the name of ‘research’.
Dr Blaise, who trains childcare, kinder and early primary school teachers at Monash University, went into a child care centre for five days and asked the children about flirting and kissing. In her report, Kiss and tell: Gendered narratives and childhood sexuality, published in the journal Australian Journal of Early Childhood this month, she notes that the children always thought of heterosexual activity and didn’t consider homosexuality.
We can at least be thankful for that! However, the questioning of three year olds about their sexual thoughts and actions is going WAY TOO FAR!
There is also talk of having sexuality included as a topic in the 'curriculum' of pre-school centres... why can't they let children enjoy their innocence?
Read the report about her research in the Herald Sun article:
Children as young as three questioned about kissing and flirting
