The Islamisation of the West

With Islam gaining prominence in western nations, Patrick Sookhdeo of Barnabas Fund has written a very insightful article about the Islamisation of the West - he includes a look at the growth of Islam, particularly in Europe as well as increasing demands by Muslims for sharia-compliant finance and sharia law for marriages and other matters.

Here in Australia the federal government is promoting and facilitating sharia finance - as we reported in a recent journal. Halal food is becoming increasingly prominent and demands for various aspects of sharia law are increasing. Muslim activist Keysar Trad regularly calls for polygamy to be legalised.

Last week a radical Muslim group called Hizb ut Tahrir held a conference in Sydney - saying they wanted a Muslim ummah or Caliphate and urging people to 'shun democracy'!
