More homosexual 'rights'

During the past week the lower house in two state governments have passed laws giving more rights to homosexuals.

Tasmania

The Tasmanian government's House of Assembly amended the Relationships Act to allow relationships that are 'recognised' overseas to also be recognised in Tasmania.
This refers to relationship registers and civil unions.
However, it ALSO INCLUDES same-sex 'marriages' performed overseas.

The Bill doesn't actually mention the word 'marriage' and MP Michael Ferguson noted that the Fact Sheets and Second Reading speech didn't mention the word 'marriage' either.
Only three MPs voted AGAINST the Bill.

The Bill now goes to the Legislative Council for a debate and vote.

New South Wales

The NSW Legislative Assembly passed a bill that will allow full adoption rights for same-sex couples. The Bill was introduced by Clover Moore, an Independent who is very 'pro-homosexual'.
The Bill was passed by 45 votes to 43 votes - one amendment which allows an exemption for faith-based agencies that facilitate adoptions, was passed.
The Bill goes to the Legislative Council in the week of Monday 6 September.
