Euthanasia bill defeated in WAEuthanasia is on the agenda in three states at present. Usually it is the Greens pushing this sort of legislation. Of course, we oppose euthanasia as it is in opposition to the Christian command to love our neighbour and to 'not murder'. FIRST, the GOOD NEWS! The Voluntary Euthanasia Bill introduced to the Western Australian Legislative Council by Greens MP Robin Chapple has been DEFEATED this week - by 24 votes to 11. World Conference in Melbourne Meanwhile Dying With Dignity Victoria and the World Federation of Right To Die Societies are holding a conference in Melbourne on euthanasia in early October. They're holding a Public Symposium called "Dying with Dignity - Bridging Principles and Practice" on Friday 8 October. Other Euthanasia news...NSW to debate euthanasia This week a Greens MP - Cate Faehrmann - announced that she plans to introduce a private member's bill on euthanasia. NEW South Wales Premier Kristina Keneally said she will give Labor MPs a conscience vote. Greens MP Cate Faehrmann today flagged her party's intention to introduce a bill giving terminally ill patients the right to end their own lives. However in two states it is Labor MPs promoting euthanasia: - In SA Labor MP Steph Key has just introduced a euthanasia bill (during September 2010). The Greens have said they will support it... Read media report. - In Tasmania, Labor Attorney-General Lara Giddings has said she will introduce a euthanasia bill by the end of this year - last year the Tasmanian parliament defeated a euthanasia bill introduced by Greens MP Nick McKim.... how things change when the Labor government is only in place because of support from the Greens! Then we have federal Greens leader Bob Brown calling for the federal government to pass laws so the NT euthanasia law can be 're-instated'!
