GetUp! is campaigning - where are the Christians?

GetUp_logoGetUp! is a loud, popular and vocal left-wing campaigning and lobbying group. They might claim to be 'independent' but several high profile Labor and Green activists were involved when the group first started.
We have previously written about GetUp! in our journal. See Politics 2.0 - GetUp! and Avaaz - November 2008.

They have a huge email list of people who receive email - they currently claim to have over 400,000 people!

Here are just TWO of their current campaigns... where are the Christians acting to STOP these things happening?

We need to get ACTIVE - and be contacting our MPs on these issues!

1. Federal - same-sex 'marriage'
Federal MPs are supposed to be 'getting the views of their constituents' after a motion was passed in the House of Representatives by 73 votes to 72 - Labor supported the Greens motion (with an amendment ) and Andrew Wilkie, Rob Oakeshott and Tony Windsor all voted FOR it! Read homosexual media report.

GetUp! promoted the motion and asked their Members to contact MPs - read their page on this.
GetUp! members sent 12,000 messages to MPs in the lead-up to the vote!
They're continuing to ask their members to contact MPs!

ACTION: Will you contact your MP and state Senators about this important matter?

2. Abortion in Queensland
Meanwhile GetUp! had 30 'Members' (activists) lobbying Queensland MPs at the Parliament YESTERDAY to try and persuade them to legalise abortion.
GetUp! is running a campaign, including an ad in The Australian this week - and they are planning billboard ads if they get enough money.
Their recent email encouraged people to donate - saying that donations would be shown in 'real time' on the website so that lobbyists could show MPs how people were supporting the GetUp! campaign! They already have more than $70,000!

ACTION: Please contact Qld MPs...
If you live in Queensland, please contact your MPs and ask them not to support the decriminalisation of abortion.
