Marriage on the agenda
A few news items on the marriage issue...
1. UK - civil partnerships The UK government is a coalition of the Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties. Unfortunately this is leading to 'progressive' and 'compromising' policies. The Liberal Democrat Equalities Minister Lynne Featherstone is expected to announce soon that civil partnerships ceremonies will be allowed to be performed in churches and religious settings. When first allowed in legislation, they were only allowed in 'secular' settings. Read report at the BBC - click here.
2. Polygamy and homosexual marriage In this insightful article, Peter Heck from American Thinker notes that the current attempt to legalise homosexual marriage is not a 're-definition' of marriage but the 'un-defining' of marriage. He points out that the same arguments being used by homosexuals are being used by advocates of POLYGAMY in a court case in Canada. Read the article: The Polygamists Make Their Move
3. GetUp! campaign launched on Valentine's Day Yes, GetUp! chose Valentine's day to launch a new campaign and TV ad for homosexual 'marriage'. They are running the campaign in partnership with Australian Marriage Equality (AME), a homosexual lobby group. The campaign is called ''Marriage Matters'' and will run during the Sydney homosexual mardi gras. It features twin brothers who claim they are the same in everything else, so why not 'marriage'? Last month AME apparently 'assured church leaders that if same sex marriage is legalised in Australia, churches will still have the freedom to refuse to marry a gay couple'. But that assumes that they will insist that 'marriages' could be performed in churches - and how long before that 'freedom' is removed? See SMH articleand the GetUp! 'marriage' campaign page.
