News Roundup - a lot is happening!Jenny and Peter have been on the road for four weeks - from Melbourne to Sydney to Queensland and back. We attended the announcement of Sydney's successful 'bid' for the 2013 World Congress of Families at the Sydney Parliament and also a marriage conference in Sydney. We spoke at a church in Nambour - to a men's breakfast (Peter), a ladies morning tea (Jenny) and to the whole church on the Sunday. The third week was a holiday at Noosa, so we decided not to access email and tried not to listen to much news. That was hard!!! On our return journey through Sydney we had a meeting with a number of people concerned about the increasing Islamisation of Australia. Thanks to our staff for 'holding the fort' whilst we were away - including mailing out the monthly journal!  Condom Ads on bus sheters While we were away Condom ads showing two homosexual men embracing each other and holding a condom appeared on Adshel bus shelter ads in Brisbane. They were initially removed following letters of complaint, but when the homosexual lobby vigorously protested and intimidated Adshel, the ads were placed back again. Billboards promoting Islam in Sydney Also appearing on Billboards, this time in Sydney, were advertisements promoting Islam. One stated, "Jesus A Prophet of Islam"; another reads "Abraham, Noah, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad: Prophets of Islam". The Sydney billboards appear to be an 'Unwanted message', as vandals have tried to remove one message and damaged the lighting of another. Read SMH media report.  Euthanasia Paul Russell, of Anti-Euthanasia group 'Hope' attended the Third International Symposium on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide in Vancouver and was greatly encouraged by meeting with people from across the world who oppose the legalisation of Euthanasia. It is possible that, as a result of his attendance, that an Australasian Conference for the International Euthanasia Prevention Coalitioncould be held in Sydney in 2012. We would hope this would place the anti-euthanasia debate squarely on the media radar and hopefully educate the media, MPs, and the public about the illusion that it is possible to place effective safeguards to control such legislation and thus the real dangers of legalising euthanasia. Paul gave a good speech in a debate with pro-death advocate, Dr Philip Nitschke, in Sydney - you can watch it on YouTube  Carbon Tax (of course we are really talking of CO2!) The Carbon Tax promotion committee, set up by PM Julia Gillard (ironically called the 'Independent Climate Commission'!) and headed by opportunist, Gaia-believing, evolutionary Palaeontologist Tim Flannery, gave its first report to the Government - No surprise that it was immediately used to support government moves to introduce a Carbon (really C02) Tax! An audit of the report, undertaken by real experts Bob Carter, David Evans, Stewart Franks and William Kininmonth says: "The report is emotive and tendentious throughout, ignores sound scientific criticism of IPCC shibboleths that has been made previously, is shotgun in its approach and at the same time selective in its use of evidence." As someone succinctly commented, on the ABC environment Blog [which, naturally given the ABC bias on this issue, favourably reported on the report], "In a misleading attempt to separate policy from science it looks as though the Commission had decided beforehand that their report would support the position required by their paymasters, the Federal Government." Also on the Climate tax issue - a campaign for the tax has commenced, under the banner 'Say Yes' - website here. They say they want a 'price on pollution'!
Ironically, the 'dirty coal-fired power station' pictured in the ad is Battersea Power Station in the UK - which was CLOSED 28 years ago, in 1983 (source)! Read Tim Blair's comment.  Same-sex 'marriage' On May 29, in Canberra, a National meeting of the left faction of the Labor Party put same-sex (homosexual/lesbian) 'marriage' firmly on the agenda for Labor's National Conference in December. Read the Media report Unfortunately, with a significant number of the Party's 'right' faction also supporting such a policy change it is increasingly likely that this move will be successful. Unless Julia Gillard can wield a big enough stick - she is already on record as stating that she does not want divisive squabbles in what has already been a difficult year for the government. She will also, after July, have a hostile Senate with the Greens holding the balance of power. The Greens have vigorously pushed for a change to the Marriage Act and will undoubtedly try to use the issue as a battering ram, rather than a stick. The Greens are already pressuring the government, as they want a much bigger 'carbon price', and will try hard to use these issues as a trade-off in exchange for supporting the government on other issues.  Internationally The so-called 'blessing' of same-sex 'couples' has been approved by the Anglican Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, the eighth diocese to do so in Canada, and the Presbyterian Church of Scotland has moved two steps closer to ordaining homosexuals/lesbians. Clearly neither group is taking much, if any, notice of the Bible on this issue and, like so many other 'denominations' today, they fear man more than God. As one Scottish Presbyterian Minister who opposes the move put it, "We have capitulated to society ... It's a sad day for Scotland... My problem is that our witness is weakened. Society knows that we're wavering from left to right and we have no moral voice". There is absolutely no justification for 'blessing', let alone ordaining, those engaging in that what God clearly calls sin, yet Christians, churches and even whole denominations across the world are falling for satan's lie that two men or two women can participate in what once was called Holy Matrimony. (Christian Media reports - Scotland - Canada)  |
