Prostitution, parenting, surrogacy, same-sex 'marriage'

Yes, we know you hear about these topics a lot... but that's because those promoting them are very ACTIVE!

Please take action!

Here's a snapshot of the latest...

1. WA: Prostitution
The government has tabled a draft Bill for 'public comment' for six weeks. The Bill would legalise (they call it 'decriminalise') brothels in "tolerated zones", out of the suburbs. But that won't stop prostitution or even control it. In Victoria, we have MORE brothels and MORE illegal trafficking than before brothels were legalised.

2. SA: Prostitution
Not to be outdone, Labor MP announced (on International Whores Day) that she will introduce a private member's bill to decriminalise brothels. This is the sixth attempt to legalise brothels in SA!

3. SA: Same-sex parenting laws passed
The South Australian Parliament has passed the 'Family Relationships (Parentage) Amendment Bill 2010'.
The Social Development Committee tabled its report during May 2011, recommending adoption, surrogacy, IVF and fostering rights for homosexual couples. Since the Chairman of the Committee was Ian Hunter, a practicing homosexual, the result is not surprising. Family First MP Dennis Hood, made a dissenting report, opposing the Committee's recommendations.

The Bill passed the Legislative Council some months ago - it passed the House of Assembly on June 9 by a vote of 24-15.

4. Chaplaincy - governments intervene
The federal government has been named as a defendant in the High Court challenge to chaplaincy.
Good news - the Attorneys-General of Queensland, Victoria and NSW have all announced that they will intervene in the case to support chaplaincy programs in schools.
Sign the petition to support chaplaincy in schools - Visit the Save Our Chaplains website.

5. Tasmania - Surrogacy
Lastly, don't forget to contact ALL 15 Members of the Tasmanian Legislative Council - ask them to vote against the Surrogacy Bill. Click here for more details. Click here for MP names and contact details.

6. How about this for active?
GetUp! and Australian Marriage Equality recently raised money - and bid $31,150 for three same-sex couples to have dinner with PM Julia Gillard at The Lodge. That's so the couples can all nicely tell Julia that they want to get married - and lobby her to change her mind! Now they're promoting the 'stories' of the couples... see here.
That's commitment!
