3. Same-sex 'marriage' The homosexual paper, Sydney Star Observer, is reporting that, "A senior federal ALP source has told the Star Observer that Prime Minister Julia Gillard is planning to announce she will allow a conscience vote on same-sex marriage in an effort to short-circuit debate at the ALP National Conference in Sydney in December. The debate would still occur but the source said Gillard believed that pre-empting the outcome would take the wind out of the sails of any decision made by the conference. The source said Gillard knew she didn’t have the votes at conference to prevent marriage equality from being added to the ALP national platform, which would put her at odds with her own party on the issue...." This is a change from her position in July - the homosexuals weren't happy (report in SSO) and have been lobbying hard! NOW is the time to write to PM Julia Gillard. Ask her NOT to change her position on same-sex 'marriage' - and ask her NOT to 'allow a conscience vote' on the issue. Click here to send a comment on her PM 'Contact page'.
4. Marriage vs cohabitation The data shows that marriage is better for everyone concerned - men, women and children - than cohabitation. A 2005 Australian paper notes that "Cohabiting relationships more unstable than marriage" and last shorter times.
The third edition of 'Why Marriage Matters' has just been published in the USA. It notes that cohabitation rates are increasing. Most importantly, it documents the benefits of marriage over cohabitation. Read Overview of the Report - click here. Read the 9 page Executive Summary- pdf, with graphs and tables. Click here.
