Relationships Bill makes Marriage irrelevant in South AustraliaSalt Shakers says the Statutes Amendment (Relationships) Bill will promote a risky lifestyle and make marriage irrelevant. The group urges South Australians to oppose the Bill. The SA Government is due to debate the controversial Statutes Amendment (Relationships) Bill in the coming week. If passed, it would give relationship rights to homosexuals. It was introduced to the Parliament on 15 September. Debate is now imminent. Salt Shakers CEO, Peter Stokes, said the Federal Government recently passed amendments to the Marriage Act to stop same-sex marriage because they knew the vast majority of Australians were opposed to it. The SA Bill is merely a backdoor way of achieving the status of marriage for same-sex couples by stealth. The Relationships Bill would delete the word "spouse" from over 80 SA laws, replacing it with "domestic partner" making adoption and IVF laws the only exceptions. However, SA Attorney-General Michael Atkinson said in his second reading speech recently that further amendments to allow same-sex couples to adopt and use IVF "remain under consideration". "If passed, this relationships Bill would give all the relationship rights of married couples to same sex 'couples'. Not only that but it would promote and give further legitimacy to homosexual relationships when the overwhelming amount of research proves that it is a risky and dangerous lifestyle," Mr Stokes said.
"The homosexual lifestyle has a lack of stability in commitment and relationships, a lower life expectancy, higher rate of violence, and poor treatment of children. In other states, once the lifestyle has been normalised through legislation, homosexuality is then propagated as a normal lifestyle. Before long it makes its way into sex education classes throughout our schools. "It's essential that we foster a public heterosexual culture. Every human society depends on the natural family for its reproduction and survival capabilities. "The SA government should be the leaders, not an organisation that rubber stamps the legislative wishes of a small homosexual lobby. "
